NGO Te Protejo is part of the World Federation for Animals (WFA)

Since this year, our organization is a full member of the World Federation for Animals (WFA), a federation of more than 60 organizations from around the world working for the recognition of animal welfare as essential to the sustainable development agenda.

Celebrating its first assembly on May 15, 2024, the organizations and foundations that are part of the WFA met in person and committed to embark on a journey to ensure that animal welfare is recognized as essential to the achievement of the global sustainable development agenda, where through a strategic plan they seek to raise the issue of animal protection on an international platform.

The WFA follows an inclusive, trust- & impact-based strategy to bring about transformative change for animals, , guided by the values of this federation: Inclusion, Altruism, Trust, Transformation, Impact.

The vision of the Federation is A world in which animal sentience is respected, and all animals live a good life, with their well-being protected, and the mission To improve the well-being of all animals, and end exploitation & suffering worldwide, through the joint effort of WFA members.

Among its major goals are:

The UN recognises the importance of animal welfare with dedicated international instruments.

International health & environmental regimes integrate animal welfare.

International trade, aid, subsidy & investment rules improve animal welfare.

As members of the WFA, our organization will be part of international working groups, events, public and international policy advocacy actions, among other actions that allow us to achieve these goals. Additionally, we adhere to the Federation's promise, which you can read below.

Our promise.

We believe that systemic policy changes create lasting impacts. Together, we therefore commit today to ensuring animal welfare is recognised as a cornerstone of the sustainable development agenda. By working with international organisations, governments, corporations, and communities, we will pave the way for a sustainable and equitable world where the care of animals is inherent to our thriving.

Together, we are not just envisioning a future – we are actively creating one where the welfare of all living beings is our measure of progress.

For our organization, being a member of the WFA is an important step in our mission on behalf of animals and to move towards a conscious, empathetic and more ethical future with all sentient beings that inhabit our planet. We thank the American Anti Vivisection Society (AAVS) who, through their sponsorship, made our inclusion in the Federation possible.
